There are no hospitals on Fort Drum. The closest emergency room to Fort Drum is in Watertown at Samaritan Medical Center located at 830 Washington Street. Fort Drum has three other medical facilities including the Guthrie Ambulatory Health Care Clinic, the Connor Troop Medical Clinic and the Soldiers and Aviation Troop Medical Clinic. Medical services are handled on a priority basis for active duty military. Family members of active duty military come first, and TRICARE subscribers. Health Care delivery at Fort Drum is unique. Although we are a Medical Department Activity supporting an Army Division, we have no inpatient capabilities on Fort Drum.

Instead, local civilian hospital facilities, such as Samaritan Medical Center, Carthage Area Hospital, Lewis County General Hospital, and River Hospital support most of our inpatient needs.

MEDDAC physicians are privileged at two of these facilities which allows them to provide maternity services, as well as perform surgeries.
